Falls Church: Flavors Soul Food

Everyone at work knows me as the girl who likes food. It's something that I have grown accustomed too, but occasionally makes me feel like I have an eating problem. One of the great things is that I learn about all sorts of places because people always come to me with questions or suggestions. Based upon a suggestion of a coworker, I ended up at a place called Flavors in Falls Church.

Wow, first step into the restaurant you can smell the the frying power. Don't come to this place if you are on a diet.
While waiting for some stragglers of our group and just hanging out in the restaurant Liam and I decided to try an order of Fried Okra. I haven't had okra in about 20 years so I'm not sure what its supposed to taste like but this was pretty awesome. You can't go wrong with frying veggies.
3/4 of us ordered the Pulled Pork Dinner. With dinner, it comes with a roll and a choice of 2 sides. The pulled pork was pretty tasty, I would order it again. The sides pictured below are Mac and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes. Holy Moly, the mac and cheese was spectacular. Mashed potatoes were not very good, M barley touched it.
For my sides I got what was recommended, the Collared Greens & Mac and Cheese. Both spectacular-absolutely nothing to complain about.
Stephen wanted to try the ribs and the pork so he ordered one dinner combo and then a pulled pork sandwich. He said the ribs were too fatty and didn't end up eating the majority of it.
L ordered the White Meat Fried Chicken with a side of Yams and Mac & Cheese. He thought the chicken was pretty tasty and he liked the sweet potatoes.
If you are looking for some good, home cooked, soul/country food then this is your place. Just thinking about the mac & cheese makes me happy. It's the one thing that everyone finished on their plate...I may have ordered a side to go for my lunch the next day. Portions are plenty and the environment was casual. Don't expect a fancy establishment, this place is the definition of a hole in the wall, luckily it was pretty clean.

I'd avoid coming here during rush hour, the traffic is pretty bad in this area.  Oh, and be prepared to feel like you gained 10lb at the end of your meal. Worth it.
