Liberty Tavern in Clarendon

After wandering around Georgetown for awhile and eating a less then satisfactory lunch here (can you tell how disappointed I am with this place), Carrie and I decided that we wanted some fries or something yummy to make up for our meal. We ended up going to Liberty Tavern because they have good french fries.

Deciding to sit at the bar was probably the best choice we made all day. Carrie and I made friends with the bartenders (who were awesome) and they made us fun drinks all afternoon/night.

Hand-Cut Fries $5: made with fresh herbs and served with 3 dipping sauces. Delicious fries, fun sauces, perfect price and great bang for your buck.
Classico Pizza $15: San Marzano crushed tomatoes, Bufala mozzarella, basil, extra-virgin olive oil. We actually didn't order it- they brought out pizza to the bar twice and passed out free samples to all of the patrons. Great idea for a bar. The pizza wasn't bad, not my favorite but still decent.

Now onto the yummy drinks....

Italian Love Affair (gin, lemon sugar, muddled pineapple and basil, etc). Delicious, fun fruity yet refreshing drink. I don't have the exact ingredients but it is worth ordering.
Adult Shirley Temple (three olives cherry vodka, sprite). Childhood classic spiked. Wonderful, made my own version here
Boston Sour (egg white, powdered sugar, lemon & sugar, whiskey, cherry bitter). This was a fun different drink. The egg whites definitely add a twist-not sure how I feel about it but it was fun to watch them make.
The Pursuit of Happiness (citrus vodka, strawberries, pineapple, basil). Delicious, fun, fruity-perfect girly drink. Loved the strawberry flavor.

They have your typical bar drinks too but we decided to do random drinks and let the bartenders pick it for us.
I've never had a real meal at Liberty Tavern, but the bar food is good. This is a great place to go catch up with some friends while you have a few fun drinks. Drink prices ranged from $7-$10 which is not bad if you are only having a few drinks.
